Bluestone Research Uncovers Vat Issues with Sage 50

What was the Problem?
After detailed investigation we had concluded that Sage 50 had various issues (dependent on the version) with the recent changes in Vat. It generally calculates the Vat amount due per item line at time of entry or amendment.

This means that even after changing the Vat rate within Sage any outstanding orders (some versions only) and invoices including any memorised invoices (all versions other than 2009), it shows the new rate but the wrong (old) Vat amount. (It does this as it does not recalculate the Vat amount).

We spoke to Sage about our findings and asked what plans they had in place. At the time, the department we were talking too, were unaware of any plans.

We are proud that our team managed to identifty the problems, designed and created a program to fix the known issues from version 10 upwards and made it available on our web site for download before that Vat rate changed.

We also took the time to contribute to some of the main Forums identifying the issue and possible resolutions.

Many thanks to all who worked so hard and long to ensure all our support customers had a smooth transition and also a big thank you to our customers who graciously gave their permission for us to delay their projects, enabling us to complete the Vat fix in time.
